‘American Horror Story: Freak Show’ spoilers: Ryan Murphy on Matt Bomer appearance, more
We are just four episodes into “American Horror Story: Freak Show” at the moment, but in a very bizarre, unusual way, you could almost say that the story is really just beginning.
The jumping-off point for everything seems to be the death of Twisty the Clown, which was sudden, but at the same time probably needed to further push Dandy down the rabbit hole into darkness. Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, Ryan Murphy does confirm that you are going to see both the clown and Edward Mordrake again, which is a sign that maybe they’re going to turn up for someone else in the future.
Meanwhile, Murphy also teased the appearance of Matt Bomer on the show next week, where he will be interacting at least with his “Normal Heart” co-star Finn Wittrock (Dandy) in some capacity:
“It is disturbing. I keep saying this, but I guess I keep topping it in my mind—but I think it’s the most disturbing thing we’ve done because it’s so real and so based on fact. It’s a true horror sequence and Matt is a good friend and we’ve collaborated many times. He was very challenged by it. It’s a very gothic, weird sequence. It’s very odd to see the two boys from Normal Heart in a sequence like that, but c’est la vie. Everyone was freaked out when we did it. Matt thought it was a real acting challenge, so that’s why he did it. I think episode five ups the horror quotient in a real way on our show.”
Probably the other most-interesting thing that came out of this interview was the big reveal that just as many suspected, there are many connections between every season of the show, and the upcoming appearance of Lily Rabe as Sister Mary Eunice, coupled with Pepper being on this season, is just one of the biggest signs that we’ve had.
