‘Agents of SHIELD’ episode 6 to play host to ‘Avengers: Age of Ultron’ trailer
Obviously, the folks associated with Marvel have no problem doing everything that they can to give a struggling “Agents of SHIELD” a ratings boost, and that includes debuting one of the most-anticipated trailers in the known universe during the show.
It was announced not long after tonight’s great episode that the new trailer for “The Avengers: Age of Ultron” will be premiering during the show’s sixth episode last week, and if ABC is smart, they’ll put it around the midway point to ensure that they have almost everyone watching for a good chunk of their episode.
Is this annoying for those comic fans desperate to see the broadcast TV debut of this trailer live? Sure, but it’ll probably be online not too long after that in the first place. At the moment, the benefits do seem to far outweigh the gains. For example, everyone associated with “Agents of SHIELD” know that this is a million times the show that it was back when it was actually getting big ratings, and they would be crazy to not take advantage of this in some way. Any more viewers long-term has to be considered a benefit here.
Of course, the challenge for “Agents of SHIELD” season 2 is to keep the action of the film interesting, but also at the same time not present anything that will rock the Marvel universe in a way that forces the movie to spend a lot of time with exposition. It needs to just be able to come in, introduce some superheroes, and get to kicking butt and taking names.
