Ratings: ‘The Flash’ still speeding along, ties ‘Agents of SHIELD’; ‘Marry Me,’ ‘About a Boy’ solid

Did “The Flash” manage to continue being the biggest success story ever for The CW Tuesday night? While it didn’t shatter any records, it did produce a rating that makes it far and away the best thing that the network currently has going for it.

Overall, the second episode entitled “Fastest Man Alive” clocked a 1.6 rating in the 18-49 demographic; while this is a drop of 0.3 from the premiere, it’s still a fantastic number for a network that really did not get about a 1.3 or so at any point last season. We anticipate a full-season order coming for the series at some point in the near future. For those making the direct comparisons, it tied Marvel’s “Agents of SHIELD” in the demo. To be fair, we do expect Clark Gregg and company yo draw better ratings than it in a week or two, when there is no longer the massive tornado of hype surrounding Barry Allen and company.

Elsewhere, the series premiere of “Marry Me” on NBC did pretty well, given that it launched to a 2.3 that is better than what most of their comedies do these days. Meanwhile, “About a Boy” followed that up with a 1.8, which is around what the show brought in for most of the first season. While there is direct competition from “New Girl” (1.2) and “The Mindy Project” (1.0), it is not enough to make us worry about their future for now. Just remember that “Parks and Recreation” had “New Girl” ratings last year and was renewed.

Of course, “The Voice” won the night, but its 3.3 rating further proved that everyone dislikes the Battle Rounds. This is a steep 20% drop from when the last blind audition show aired on a Tuesday.
