‘Top Chef: Boston’ premiere spoilers: Meet some of the new contestants

Before the new season of “Top Chef” gets underway, it’s time for what is another tradition: Listening to all the contestants rattle on and on about how amazing they are!

Seriously, this has to be one of the most excruciating parts of the entire competition, and it happens just about every season. To a certain extent, we get it. You’ve worked extremely hard in the industry to make a name for yourself, and of course you want everyone to know all about it. With that being said, there is a difference between knowing you are great, and bragging about how great you are. Working under someone and winning awards doesn’t mean that you have the heart or the creativity to do well here.

With that being said, there’s a ton of ties to former contestant connections in here! You have a business partner of Mike Isabella, someone who works under Michael Voltaggio, and someone with experience with former “Top Chef Masters” winner Floyd Cardoz. The gourmet food industry is at least a reasonably small world, so we’re not surprised by all this. Still, we like to root for the men and women with few qualifications, but just know how to cook like nobody’s business despite whatever resources they are dealt.

Think of the video below as an awesome introduction to everyone this season, and it’s also nice to see Richard Blais back around! The former winner of “Top Chef: All-Stars” is going to be back throughout the season, and will take part as some sort of judge.

In the end, we’re just glad the original version of the show is back. We just cannot get excited about “Duels” or any of the other offshoots that this franchise comes up with.
