‘The Walking Dead’ season 5 spoilers: The mystery of the beardless Andrew Lincoln

Walking Dead Poster -There are many mysteries out there that you can associate with “The Walking Dead,” but one of the most prominent ones these days is the state of one Andrew Lincoln’s beard … or at the moment, his lack of beard.

This has almost become a staple for the actor as of late, since Rick Grimes has to look like a man who has no real interest or time to shave. So why did Lincoln show up at the season 5 premiere party sans beard this week? Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, the actor had the following to say:

“Either I’m not in the show anymore or there’s a flashback where I found a razor … [Losing the beard] was more pleasant for my wife!”

The biggest thing to remember here, at least for the time being, is this: Do you really think that AMC would let Andrew shave his beard if his character was killed off? It’d seem like way too much of a giveaway for what is coming up for his character. Plus, Rick is the star of the show still, and regardless of what happens in the Robert Kirkman comics, he is one of the least-likely characters to ever die in this form.

We’ll find out some more answers eventually, as “The Walking Dead” premieres on AMC Sunday, October 12. With that being said, there may not be any reason for the producers to rush things along here in the beard department. You may not figure out what actually happens here until well into the second half of the season, which starts in January.
