‘The Blacklist’ season 2: Exec on the show’s delicate balance
The one thing that this show always has is a lot going on, so how do the showrunners really work to balance every component? This is not a particularly easy thing to do, but speaking to the Wall Street Journal in a new interview, Jon Bokenkamp gives a pretty in-depth take on just about everything that does go into making this show work and be so successful:
“It is a show that has a lot of deep mythology and backstories and sort of unknown agendas…We almost always start with that, looking at it from a place of character and mythology and sort of mapping out where we want those big turns relationship-wise and so forth to happen in the season…Then we go back and weave in those stand-alone cases…Whether they may or may not appear relevant to Red or to the task force at the time, many of them do sort of ultimately weave into the larger puzzle. So it’s a little bit of a mix.”
Some of the notable guest stars you are going to see this season include Krysten Ritter, Mary-Louise Parker, Paul Reubens, and many more. After all, we are just talking about the first few episodes here.
