‘American Horror Story: Freak Show’ spoilers: Ryan Murphy promises death is lasting
If there is one thing that did continually annoy us much of the time about “American Horror Story: Coven,” it is the way in which the chose chose to deal with death. Even if you were killed off on this show, there was a very real possibility that you would come back to life later. We saw it with Frances Conroy and Emma Roberts’ characters, and Evan Peters’ Kit Walker ended up being one of the most notable examples of this.
When it comes to “American Horror Story: Freak Show,” however, the message that executive producer Ryan Murphy wants to pass along is pretty clear: Death is death on this show. Nobody is going to be popping back up anytime soon.
In a pretty fantastic interview with Entertainment Weekly, Murphy had the following to say on this:
“There’s no supernatural element…well a little bit. It’s very much in that Asylum world. There’s no sort of Elizabeth Montgomery/Bewitched stuff going on. This season, once you die, you’re dead. There’s no supernatural thing to bring you back like last year. It’s just completely new. It feels completely new. I’m shooting it in a different style. It sounds different.”
Murphy also promised an epic villain this year in Twisty the Clown, who may actually give people a reason to be afraid of clowns. He claims that the scenes featuring him are so scary that some of the crew can barely stand to watch them.
As for the show’s potential fifth season, Murphy claims that he already has some ideas, and that they will be sprinkled throughout what lies ahead.
