‘Longmire’ season 4: Netflix, Amazon to reportedly hear pitch
For all those who love “Longmire,” hope may still be alive for the show to last for at least another season.
According to Deadline, studio Warner Horizon has been working tirelessly to develop the perfect pitch to sell the show, which was canceled by A&E after three seasons, to potential cable networks or streaming services. In addition to that, the producers have been putting together a creative plan, and in tandem, they will attempt to sell the show to many interested parties over the coming days.
Both Netflix and Amazon are reportedly set to hear the plan, but Hulu for the time being is out. Yahoo is mentioned in this report, but their interest may be less due to them relying on advertisers rather than subscriptions. The show still most likely to land somewhere online where they don’t care how old you are so long as you watch the show. Netflix already owns the streaming rights, so that makes sense for them to be an interested party.
The reason why we still personally feel like AMC is another viable suitor here is for similar reasons. While they still care about demo ratings as an advertiser-supported network, their expectations on Saturday are not enormous. A show like “Longmire” could seemingly thrive alongside “Hell on Wheels,” and the lack of competition compensates well for it not being the best night to traditionally watch original programming. The Deadline report says TNT is not interested, and that doesn’t particularly shock us given that they’ve got a pretty full programming slate, even with “Dallas” likely out the door.
We’ll see where the dust settles over the next week or so, but there is a reason for optimism. Still, we prefer personally to set the expectations low, try to send as many good vibes as possible, and hope to be pleasantly surprised. This was our feeling with “Community,” and our expectations of a renewal there were far lower than they are here.
In case you missed it yesterday, Reg Seeton wrote for us an extremely in-depth piece detailing why “Longmire” should be renewed. It’s certainly worth your time to check out.

What bothers me about this is you suggest that Dallas is likely gone at TNT. I could not disagree more. Can you show me 1 piece of factual evidence that suggests this? As you know “ratings” themselves are very different than what they once were. Although Dallas has lost 1/2 it’s viewers since season 1 let me lay out my argument. Season 1 TNT knew it would get an unsustainable boost because of old viewers and the “nostalgia” factor. Season 2 brought us the death of Larry Hagman thus causing another dip. This season however despite the slow start, the ratings have leveled off, and actually seen increases in each of the last 2 weeks. Dallas is averaging about a 1.9 share but when you factor in the DVR’s they are doing a 2.7 – 2.8. DVR’s matter and TNT know it, they also know that Dallas is up against a very strong Monday evening lineup…..Finally once again this past Monday Dallas had the leading hashtag on twitter. It has consistently been a leader in “second screen” ratings and is a social media powerhouse, while social media “ratings” aren’t as important as the traditional viewership ratings they are still a key factor in a networks decision whether to continue or cancel a show. Finally a couple of months ago TNT held their 2015 “upfront” event where they teased their 2015 lineup to get sponsors excited to spend their money with Turner. Not only was Dallas included in their “upfront” presentation, Linda Gray and Patrick Duffy were there shaking hands and kissing babies. What TNT is doing by not announcing their direction with Dallas is less about poor ratings and more about providing a cliffhanger of their own (thus increasing their social media ratings) keeping their loyal fans on the hook, hanging on every rumor……Typical Dallas…..

Dallas is one of TNT’s lowest rated shows. Networks always cancel their lowest rated shows and replace them with new shows to try to improve their average.
Dallas is not the only TNT show that gets a boost with DVR. They all do. At the end of the day, it’s still one of TNT’s lowest rated shows.
DVR views (within 3 days of original broadcast) are already included in the C3 metric the renewal decisions are based on (which is similar to the anemic 0.4 demo rating the show is averaging).

We are really hoping that another network picks Longmire up. I have read the books, but really enjoyed the series. Please pick it up…….

This series should be somewhere on tv. It is one of most well acted ones with good stores and is better than half the junk that is on tv right now. Hopefully, someone will pick it up. I think Saturday would be a great idea.
