‘Two and a Half Men’ season 12 spoilers: ‘Psych’ alum Maggie Lawson set to recur
We’ll forever be a fan of anyone who called “Psych” home for the majority of the time that it was on the air, and that is why we’re thrilled to hear that Maggie Lawson has a new (at least temporary) home over on “Two and a Half Men.”
Per a report coming in from Deadline, Lawson has booked a recurring role on the final season of the CBS comedy, and will play a social worker who helps Walden (Ashton Kutcher) and Alan (Jon Cryer) prepare to tie the knot, which is a move that the two of them are making so that it is easier for Walden to adopt a child.
This entire storyline does sound ridiculous, and we wonder how it will come across as anything other than the new “I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry.” With that being said, we’re happy to see Lawson hopefully adding a touch of her own humor to the mix here. We hope that her character is smarter than most of the other female characters introduced on the show over the years, though to the credit of the writers, they have become better at this in the Kutcher era than they were with Charlie Sheen. Also, there’s no word on her being a love interest for anyone right now, but we’ll just have to wait and see if that changes.
Lawson was a part of a pilot for CBS earlier this year, but it failed to get a series pickup; last year, she starred in the short-lived “Back in the Game,” which limited her participation on the final season of “Psych.”
The new season of the comedy will not premiere for many more weeks, and that is mostly due to CBS airing their “Thursday Night Football” for a run of around half the NFL season. It’s a move for ratings on their part, and the silver lining is that this will allow for more opportunities to see consecutive new episodes of this and other shows.
