‘American Horror Story: Freak Show’ spoilers: See Jessica Lange, more in trailer

If you love “American Horror Story,” then we have a reason for you to be excited right now: The first trailer-of-sorts for the new season, subtitled “Freak Show,” is now online!

The biggest takeaway from this trailer is mostly one simple thing: This is going to be quite an assortment of characters! The trailer chooses to focus not so much on the story as all of the individual characters, which includes the two-headed woman (Sarah Paulson), the bearded lady (Kathy Bates), the strongman (Michael Chiklis), a woman who seems almost straight out of “Total Recall” (Angela Bassett), and more. Jessica Lange is seen at the very end of the trailer as the woman who is responsible for running this entire show in the first place, and she seems more than content with her work … at least for now.

The setting for the season is the 1950s, and all of these characters will be operating out of the town of Jupiter, Florida at a time when these old freak shows are starting to die off and people are developing other interests rather than watching things that can often make them uncomfortable. Is there a major element of horror to go along with this? Signs point to “yes,” but the trailer doesn’t seem too interested in giving you everything yet.
