‘Utopia’ premiere preview: All sorts of crazy, but why against ‘Big Brother 16’?
Tomorrow, Fox is going to finally lift the veil on their new reality show “Utopia,” and there is serious potential here for it to take the entire country by storm in a short amount of time.
In case you didn’t know, Fox has made the live feeds available for quite a long time now, and based on what we know about them, they have been absolutely insane so far and make the “Big Brother” live feeds look like constant solitary confinement. Basically, you have dropped off a group of strangers in a remote part of California, and you are forcing them to try to fend for themselves, and come up with their own unique society. The cast of characters are all extremely over-the-top, and that has led to fight after fight after fight. People have taken off their clothes, threaten to beat each other up, and get ridiculously drunk … and all in a very short amount of time. Things are so crazy with this show, one person didn’t even make it out of the sequester phase of the show.
The thing we wonder about this show, though, is whether or not it will be appealing without any sort of actual prize at the end of it. While “Big Brother” has a $500,000 check awaiting the winner, there is no champ here. It is all about the experiment. That’s a blessing in some ways, and also a curse in others.
The only thing that makes zero sense to us right now is the network airing this show literally at the same time as “Big Brother” multiple times a week. What are you trying to ultimately accomplish there? It’s limiting your own audience!
Still, we’re hoping that the show is edited together well, and most of the crazy stuff from the live feeds are included here.
