‘The Blacklist’ season 2 spoilers: Don’t expect much Tom Keen for a while
There is little question that Tom Keen was a huge part of the first season of “The Blacklist,” and thanks to that, isn’t it only understandable that you would want to hear a little bit more about his right now? The answer to that, of course, is “definitely.”
Unfortunately, the series plans on making you wait for at least a little while before you get any real answers. Speaking to TVLine, show creator Jon Bokenkamp makes it clear that you will not find out about Ryan Eggold’s character or his whereabouts in the show’s first episode back, and you may have to wait for a time to get more details:
“I do love that character, and it’s hard to imagine the show without him, but I don’t know what I could say to give any hope to Tom. There won’t be any big discoveries right away.”
Personally, we of course feel like he is very much alive, and there is something brimming underneath the surface to bring him back in the future. The man is just too interesting of a character to get rid of, and also brings way too much history to the table. He’s connected to everyone from Liz to Reddington to Berlin, and these cannot be ignored.
With all of this being said, maybe it is good that we are taking a little break from the character for a little while. This gives us more of a chance to take stock in the people that we do have around, and it also creates a fun discussion about where Tom could be.
If we were to ask you that question about Tom’s whereabouts, how would you answer? Share your theories below.

Really boring without the Tom and Liz connection. The handling of this reminds me of the fiasco played out in Homeland when they killed off Brody. Stopped watching that one & seriously thinking about not watching the blacklist anymore also.

I’m glad Tom is gone for awhile. I want to see Liz move on with her personal life and stop being so naive. She’s an analyst for the FBI for heaven’s sake, how could she be fooled for so long by Tom? I also want to see her have more of a partnership with Ressler. I don’t believe FBI agents are as inept as the writers have made these out to be. Obviously, we are all curious about her childhood and the part Red played in that, but I’d also like to know more about the other characters and their pasts. Eventually, of course, I’d like to see her and Ressler develop more than a working relationship. I love the show and can’t wait for Season 2 to begin.

Huge fan base because of Tom. Producers need to work him back in quickly. No chemistry in Liz/Ressler relationship. As disfunctional as it was, Liz/Tom was “hot”!
