‘Masters of Sex’ season 2, episode 8 preview: Virginia learns more on Bill’s past

Going into Sunday’s “Masters of Sex,” we’ve seen time and time again that Virginia and Bill certainly have what can be described as a “dynamic” relationship. They are passionate about their work, but at the same time also very passionate about one another.

At the same time, what we have also seen on the series is Dr. Masters play most of his cards very close to the vest. He’s not the sort of guy particularly keen to share a lot of his past, and that may be a source of significant conflict for the two of them moving forward. In the sneak peek below, Lizzy Caplan’s character discovers that Bill may have a patient that has a very interesting past with, so much that his fake name is their same first name in Francis.

Is it a coincidence? Bill argues so, citing some details about the Declaration of Independence and other historical information. This really just seems to be his way of doing the classic duck-and-cover maneuver, where he doesn’t want to give away any information, and due to that, he comes with a clever way of dancing around it.

If these two are going to be together personally, in addition to of course professionally, then they are going to have to work on being as open and honest as possible. The one thing that we can say for sure right now? It doesn’t look like Bill is that interested in going in that direction just yet.
