‘Downton Abbey’ season 5 premiere to get grand charity screening in London
We’ve known that “Downton Abbey” is quite the popular series for a rather long time now, but you truly know when you have made it when you hold your season premiere party at a major cinema.
Today, it was confirmed that the ITV series’ production company has partnered up with the Cinema and Television Benevolent Fund in Great Britain, a charity helping those in need within the industry, to host a grand premiere screening event at the Empire Leicester Square on September 17. This is one of London’s most prestigious venues for premiere parties, and many of the show’s cast members, along with executive producers Gareth Neame and Julian Fellowes, will attend.
In a new statement, Neame had the following to say about hosting the premiere in such a new, exciting manner:
“The chance to see these much-loved characters on the new Imax screen at the Empire Leicester Square is not to be missed, and we can’t wait for audiences to get their first glimpse of the thrilling new series.”
You can purchase tickets here; for the price of 75 British pounds (or around $125 US dollars), you can get a chance to walk the event’s red carpet, receive a glass of champagne, and also attend a screening and Q&A session for the show … all for a tremendous cause.
The date of this particular event is also most likely a glimpse that the season 5 premiere date is most likely going to be Sunday, September 21. This is around the same time the show premiere last year, but almost a week later than when it started back up for season 3. As with last year, there are eight episodes, and then also a Christmas Special.
