‘Pretty Little Liars’ season 5, episode 13 spoilers: Janel Parrish’s role in Christmas episode
It’s going to be a long time until you see “Pretty Little Liars” back on the air, but when you do, it will be in a role that you haven’t quite seen the show before: As a holiday special! Christmas has come to Rosewood, and we are finally going to get a chance to see it after many years of being kept in the dark.
But what are we going to see? Well, in addition to some holiday cheer, you will also see some of the recently-deceased Mona. Janel Parrish said after the finale that she would be appearing in flashbacks throughout the rest of the season, and speaking to TVLine, she made it clear that she’ll have an interesting part to play in this particular holiday story, as well:
“Oh, yes, she’s going to have a fun part. She’s going to be the Ghost of Christmas Past, Present and Future. She gets to mess with Alison, and in a fabulous costume, I might add.”
So who will be most impacted by losing Mona on the show? Based on what Parrish has to say here, it will be Hanna. The two were close to one point in their lives, and while there were serious trust issues, there was also friendship and kindness at times. This may be the death that hits the Liars the most personally since Emily lost Maya, even though there have been some other notable departures since that time (Shana and Alison’s mother come to mind).
“Pretty Little Liars” will follow up this Christmas episode with more installments throughout the month of January, and we’ll of course have full coverage of all of them.
