‘Ray Donovan’ season 2, episode 7 preview: Conor’s bad birthday party

Where does the story go from here on “Ray Donovan”? On next week’s all-new episode, what we are going to basically see is a prime example of one of the most terrible birthday parties of all time. We don’t even know why Conor wanted this in the first place.

So what was the boy’s birthday request? H wanted to get the whole family together! Have his memories with Mickey really be that good? We cannot imagine so. Anyway, the entire gang is going to get together, and chaos will ensure not that long after that. There will be fighting, there will be finger-pointing, and at one point, Ray takes a baseball bat to someone’s SUV. As you know, there is nothing quite like getting violent and smashing a car window to resolve a conflict.

We are now officially at the halfway point in the season, and thanks to that, we are really considering this to be one of the big potential “turning points” of the entire season. What those in power at the FBI and other locales really want right now is Donovan family in-fighting, and for them to come completely apart at the seams. Basically, all of this happening right now is their dream come true.

For the rest of the season, the only thing that we can hope for is that we remain consistently surprised, and that there is some more of what we like most about the show: Ray trying to “fix” problems. Personally, we prefer that much more than when the show becomes some sort of “mob” drama with the family.
