‘Falling Skies’ season 4, episode 9 preview: Is love all Tom and Anne have?
On Sunday night, “Falling Skies” is going to air the penultimate episode of season 4, and this is going to be one that makes start to really question one simple thing: Is there really any hope at all on this show?
For now, let us look at all of the various ways to analyze that. Lexi has seemingly joined the forces of not-good (wanted to shake up the adjectives here), the body count continues to rise, and there are fewer resources for humanity by the second. The title for this show is starting to become more and more appropriate with each passing day.
So where is the hope? What do we have to look forward to? In the midst of carnage and possible death, the promo for Sunday night’s new episode seems very intent on reminding us of one thing: At least Tom and Anne love each other. Maybe this is all you need to be hopeful … but we imagine now.
The show really needs to pick things up in these final few episodes after a promising start to season 4, and one of the biggest ways that they can do this is to give us an impression that the humans still have a fighting chance. We don’t need a major victory or anything, but a reason to be excited about the final season would be nice.
In the end, we still refuse to believe that this show is going to end on a tragic note. With Steven Spielberg on board as an executive producer and with the occasional positive moment thrown in here, happiness is feasible. It may just be hard to obtain.
