‘Boardwalk Empire’ season 5 spoilers: First details on upcoming premiere
Is it September 7 yet? Hardly, but that is the day you can expect to see a whole lot more of Nucky Thompson … and of course a whole lot more of “Boardwalk Empire.”
Today, we’re here with some of the first official details on what you can expect from the HBO series, which will be returning with an episode entitled “Golden Days for Boys and Girls.” Somehow, we have a hard time thinking that this is going to be necessarily an accurate name for the story and the tone of it. After all, we’re entering the Great Depression here!
Still, the synopsis below gives you a sense not only of what is coming up in the future for Steve Buscemi, but also what we are going to see from him back during his days growing up in the area:
“Nucky (Steve Buscemi) is awash in memories from pier-boy days growing up in 1884 Atlantic City, when the young Nucky (Nolan Lyons) caught the eye of the Commodore (John Elllison Conlee). In 1931 Cuba, Nucky joins Sally Wheet (Patricia Arquette) and, with a U.S. Senator in tow, forges ties with Bacardi Rum in hopes of Prohibition’s repeal in the U.S. Working on Wall Street, Margaret (Kelly Macdonald) finds herself in the hot seat when her boss, facing an internal investigation, decides his own future. Down but never out, Chalky (Michael Kenneth Williams) seizes an opportunity to extricate himself from a difficult situation. In New York, Lucky Luciano (Vincent Piazza) sets in motion a bold plan that reverberates all the way to Nucky in Cuba.”
There is clearly a lot going on in this episode despite the seven-year time jump, and that is something you can expect for the rest of the season in general. Whenever you only have eight episodes to work with, you have to assume that there will be a lot of story cramming done.

Rip off. Not fair to loyal fans. Disappointed at best!!
They ruined the show when they killed Jimmy. Now it’s not Boardwalk Empire it’s a show about 1920 and 1930 gangsters.

7 year jump; only 8 episodes. I feel cheated; producers got lazy, disinterested
