‘The X Factor’ UK: Ella Henderson’s new video; new show – ‘rigged’ allegations
Before we get to the drama that is enclosed within this “X Factor” UK story, isn’t it okay that we start this off with a little bit of good news? We like to think so, which is why we are kicking off here with the latest new video from Ella Henderson.
This song is called “Glow,” and is the latest single off of her upcoming album. There are some similarities in here to her other notable single in “Ghosts,” notable that Ella clearly seems to like shooting music videos in creepy forests. There are hints of Coldplay and Ellie Goulding in here, but in terms of message this is a much more positive song then her original single. We just wish that the chorus went in a few more unpredictable directions.
Given that her first single was a breakout hit on British radio, we are going to be keeping a close watch already on how this one fares.
Now, let’s talk “rigging” allegations that have risen on Twitter in the wake of the six-chair challenge being filmed at Wembley this week. The biggest drama has come out of Cheryl Cole and Louis Walsh repeatedly changing their minds on team members, and also reported conversations with producers that had the audience becoming somewhat of a mob by the end of it.
Our response to all this is pretty simple: This stuff has always happened on singing shows. While judges have their favorites, of course producers do, as well! This is a TV show, and talent has to be considered alongside entertainment. There is no definitive evidence of this and it is pure speculation on our part, but we always figure that on average, producers like to get in at least one act for entertainment out of every five or six “talented” one puts through. This is why we are at times stuck with what are referred to commonly as “joke” performers.
