‘Under the Dome’ season 2, episode 8 preview: What secrets is Barbie’s dad keeping?

Someone really should tell Barbie’s father Don that secret secrets can hurt someone. After all, one of the central themes of “Under the Dome” next week is going to be what happens why Mike Vogel’s character starts to learn a few more things about what Don may be up to down in his secret little world.

Fittingly, this episode is entitled “Awakening,” which is exactly what you would hope for and expect from an hour that teaches you a few more things about your favorite characters. If you want to see more, then just look below to read the official synopsis:

“When Barbie enlists his father’s help to reach out to Julia, he realizes that Don may know more about the Dome than he is letting on. Meanwhile, Big Jim appoints himself sheriff of Chester’s Mill.”

Will this finally be the episode that really starts to push the story in the right direction? We were hoping something as dramatic as what Barbie and Sam did tonight would be enough to really get some momentum going again, but it’s not happening. This show instead continues to remain a hot mess, and we really cannot explain why since there are so many elements here that should work. The only feasible explanation that we can give is that this is a total sophomore slump that stems from a little bit of confusion after an “event series” turned into more, coupled with the uncertainty of where the story will go moving forward.
