‘The X Factor’s’ Fifth Harmony, ‘The Voice’s’ Christina Grimmie make TCA presence known
The 2014 Teen Choice Awards are a haven for just about any sort of celebrity on the planet, and while we do give them some grief from time to time for having a billion different categories, we’ll give them at least a little bit of credit for recognizing talent on the web in some way.
While some of you may know Christina Grimmie better from “The Voice,” she started up as one of the most-popular artists on YouTube and is nominated for a TCA this year in that capacity. While on the red-carpet pre-show today, she most just expressed her excitement at being able to be invited to a major awards show for a change. It’s still to be seen whether or not she will be nominated for something, but this is still an achievement in itself.
Meanwhile, another act from a singing show at the TCAs this year is Fifth Harmony, who made it pretty far on “The X Factor” and are the only season 2 act who have a new single out right now in “Bo$$.” The five ladies actually sang a little bit of it while on the red carpet, though it was pretty clear that they were put on the spot, and their song melodically doesn’t work quite in the same way as others do where you can start popping off melodies for it right away.
In the end, we hope for good things coming from both acts, and we’ll have to wait and see if they end up becoming big winners at the TCAs itself. We’ll have so much more throughout the night!
