HBO’s ‘Silicon Valley’ now available for digital download; you really must watch

Silicon Valley -We don’t often go out and recommend particular items upon their digital release, with one of the biggest reasons being that there is so much good TV on right now that we’d be recommending almost everything.

However, we’re doing things a little differently for HBO’s “Silicon Valley,” which is now available on iTunes and Amazon Instant Video: You really need to go watch this one. Why is that? The first season is really just that awesome. If you love sort of geeky / nerdy comedies that give you a satiric representation of life in the tech industry, this is entirely up your alley. Thomas Middleditch, Kumail Nanjiani, and Zach Woods are especially fantastic, and the season only gets funnier as it progresses. The fact that they were even able to focus after the shocking death of Christopher Evan Welch midway throughout production is astounding.

One of the other reasons we recommend this now is because maybe you just haven’t had a chance to catch this yet because you don’t have HBO, and it’s therefore very hard to check it out. This is the same boat that many fans of “Game of Thrones” and “Veep” are also in. It just feels like the comedy genre is especially hurting right now. “Girls” had an off year, “Modern Family” is getting past its prime, and “New Girl” sank somewhat with Nick and Jess together. We’d say that as far as live-action comedy goes, “Brooklyn Nine-Nine,” “Veep,” “Silicon Valley,” and “Parks and Recreation” are really at the top of the mountain, and it is not even close.

Season 2 of the show will premiere on HBO next year, and we’ll have some further updates on that subject when they are available. If you want some more great scoop on everything we cover at CarterMatt via email, then sign up today for our official newsletter.
