‘Homeland’ season 4 spoilers: Mandy Patinkin does research with the CIA
“Homeland” season 4 will be premiering on Showtime a little later this fall, but before we get to that, why not share what we think to be one of the coolest things about the story ahead?
Basically, we’re discussing the amount of research in particular that Mandy Patinkin is doing in order to play the role of Saul this time around. Even though he’s not even technically within the CIA anymore, the actor claims that he is still doing so much research that he even has a high-ranking officer with the agency on his Rolodex. In a video over on TVLine, he claims that he has a contact this year within the CIA, and that one of the other ways that he prepares to be Saul is reading books that showrunner Alex Gansa suggests for him to check out.
One of the other fascinating things about this very-fascinating man is largely that he does not ask for future scripts or storylines before he has to see them, mostly because he likes to speculate, to put himself into the shoes of his character, and see what happens from there. With acting, this is mostly a case-by-case basis. There are some out there who prefer to know almost everything in advance, while there are others who prefer to figure things out much more as time passes.
Ultimately, we’re the most excited about the fact that this is a true reboot for a show that was a mere two years ago viewed as the best thing on TV, and without the Brody baggage, it can get there again.
