‘Mad Men’ season 7: Elisabeth Moss on those ‘True Detective’ rumors
Is Elisabeth Moss really going to be going from “Mad Men” to “True Detective” at some point in the future? We’re still awaiting the answer to that, but what we can at least say right now is that this is something that she is aware of.
Speaking on the matter to USA Today, Moss claimed that HBO has not reached out to her about a role “in the way everyone is talking about… I had to ask my own people, ‘Have you not told me something?’” This is an interesting way for her to put it, which at least makes us believe that there is some validity to the original story. After all, she also went on from there to add that this could very well be a part that she would be interested in playing:
“For me as an actor who’s been in this business for over 25 years, it’s so flattering to be associated with that show. [And] for anyone to think that I could be a part of that show.”
There’s really no reason to choose anyone other than Moss unless you have a very particular direction for the character. She proved her versatility in “Top of the Lake,” and playing Peggy Olsen on “Mad Men” for so long, while standing out amidst other scene-stealers like Jon Hamm and Vincent Kartheiser, is no easy task. The fact that she has been able to do this at all is really a further indication of her strength. They would be smart to ink a deal as soon as humanly possible.
