Ratings: Did ‘The Quest,’ ‘Big Brother 16,’ ‘Last Comic Standing’ suffer due to preemptions?
Thursday night was definitely a chaotic one to say the least when it comes to the ratings, largely due to the fact that there were so many sports-related preemptions across the entire country. This obviously is going to hurt many shows that did not air in their typical timeslot on certain affiliates, and this is also why we didn’t get the full numbers until today.
“The Quest” – Sadly, it’s still bad news for ABC’s adventure show. With a 0.6 rating in the 18-49 demographic, the show didn’t really gain any steam despite a pretty great first episode. The preemptions obviously hurt it, but even without them it doesn’t seem like it would have improved that dramatically. We’ll get a complete sense of the ratings next week, but for now, we’ll just be lucky if the show gets to air a full season.
“Big Brother” – It’s crazy how consistent the show is year after year, and this 2.3 is proof of it for the double-eviction that aired despite some markets not getting it until past midnight. This is basically a lock for renewal.
“Last Comic Standing” – It’s already been renewed, but the show should be happy with a 1.0 given both preemptions and a Presidential address that made things for viewers on the east coast all the more jumbled.
This is not ultimately a week that can be really read too much into from any vantage point, but given our close coverage of “The Quest” and love for all three shows mentioned here, we figured it best to still give you all the relevant information we have now. We’ll be back with more next week.
