‘Once Upon a Time’ season 4 spoilers: Are we returning to Arthurian lore?
Remember when Lancelot was a part of “Once Upon a Time“? That was a long time ago, but this character’s presence did open the door on a variety of different characters potentially appearing on the ABC show.
Since that time, things have been rather dormant when it comes to the Knights of the Round Table … until potentially now. According to TVLine, the show is currently casting an old and “grizzled” knight who has spent a good chunk of his life trying to serve a specific cause. The speculation here is that this could be a search for a Holy Grail, and without knowing anything else about the character, this does make sense. We haven’t yet met King Arthur on the series, and Sir Galahad seems like he could also be a good option. Unfortunately, we don’t think we’ll be seeing Brave Sir Robin popping up anytime soon. (Too bad “Monty Python” doesn’t qualify for fairy-tale lore.)
Even if this character is not tied to Arthurian lore, we’re still at least reasonably happy that the show is not necessarily throwing all of their eggs into the “Frozen” basket on the upcoming season. Trust us when we say that we do understand the appeal of the Disney franchise, and understand why the show would want to milk it for almost everything it’s worth. The one thing that has us mostly worried about that arc is expectations, and the fact that we already know that none of the characters from it are really going to be sticking around. Therefore, we question the purpose in the larger story.
Who from the Round Table would you want to see on “Once Upon a Time,” or are there any fictional knights in general who you feel are worthy of the show? Let us know in the comments, and head over here to snag some further magical updates via our CarterMatt Newsletter.
