TV Quick Hits: Bill Cosby comedy set; ‘Welcome to Sweden’ renewed; Tracy Morgan update
While NBC is very interested in this show and in Cosby, they are not pulling a “Michael J. Fox Show” and automatically giving him the keys to the kingdom. Cosby’s show will have to go through a typical development process with a pilot, and the show could air in the summer or fall of 2015. O’Malley, per his own availability, could also star on the show as his son-in-law.
“Welcome to Sweden” renewed – NBC has picked up the second season of the Greg Poehler comedy, which should air at some point next summer. If you thought that the show was already renewed, you’re right. The different here is strictly that it was renewed in Sweden, and NBC still could have passed on it. We don’t blame them for the pickup; while the ratings here aren’t huge, it keeps them tied to the Poehler family and Greg has landed some big guest stars before.
Tracy Morgan update – Tracy’s friend and fellow comic Neal Brennan appeared on “Late Night with Seth Meyers” last night, and passed along a funny comment that seems to be proof that the “30 Rock” star is doing great in his recovery after a car crash killed a colleague and severely injured others:
“Mentally – we spoke on the phone and he seemed all there. He was like ‘Neal, the outpouring of love was unbelievable. The people who reached out to me. Busta Rhymes, LL Cool J, the President.’ The fact that Tracy put LL Cool Jand Busta Rhymes above the President lets me know that Tracy is back.”
