‘Switched at Birth’ season 3 finale spoilers: First look at graduation!

We know that “Switched at Birth” has been building to graduation for most of the season, but come Monday, August 18, the moment will finally be here with an episode entitled “And Life Begins Right Away.” Unlike “Pretty Little Liars,” who seem desperate to hold off on graduating their girls for as long as possible, this show is taking that risk right now.

Unfortunately for many of these characters, graduation is not going to be going off without a hitch. As a the official synopsis below suggests, at least a few sudden developments could cause a massive shake-up before the story concludes:

“Everyone is looking forward to commencement until shocking news about Carlton threatens to overshadow their special day. Daphne fears her future is in jeopardy when her past catches up with her. John and Kathryn are not happy when they learn about Bay’s non-traditional post-graduation plans.

“Meanwhile, Mary Beth is pleased when Travis’s wish comes true.”

What we do wonder when it comes to this episode is what it sets up now for the future of the show. There’s the potential to go down a completely different path, and maybe the show wants to. We at least know for sure that this episode is not being billed as a series finale, and thanks to that there will be many still clamoring for a season 4 not too long after this story comes to a close. In the end, we’ll just have to see what happens.
