‘Hell on Wheels’ season 4, episode 1 preview: Anson Mount, producers on new faces

Tomorrow night, “Hell on Wheels” returns to AMC for new episodes; but before the premiere airs, why not take a look at John Campbell and many of the other new characters who are going to be gracing this world … and also causing plenty of trouble along the way.

John is the most notable addition for season 4 in our mind, mostly because he’s a powerful man with political aspirations, and he also happens to be the largest threat that Durant has faced to date. After all, this is the first guy who really has a similar sort of ambition, but is far more of a sociopath when it comes to his actions. He really doesn’t care at all what people say about him, and he has no problem making these opinions known.

In addition to Campbell, you’ve got some pretty rough men working under him who are going to do just about everything that they can to make life hell for the residents of this burgeoning young city.

For those curious, the video also features Mackenzie Porter’s Naomi heavily, even if she is a familiar character (just played by a new actress). We are impressed still by the way that Porter still has some sort of handle this character so effectively despite being new to the role. It’s too easy to refer to her as just the naive young wife of Cullen Bohannon. There is something deeper there, and she does have an understanding of people.
