TV Quick Hits: ‘New Girl’ casts ‘Veep’ star; ‘Kirstie’ canceled; ‘Brooklyn Nine-Nine’ news
“New Girl” gig for Reid Scott – On “Veep,” Scott’s Dan is arguably the least sought-after person ever. He is a louse who, despite his good looks, is completely overtaken by his greed and sense of self-importance.
However, it has now been confirmed that Scott will be gracing the “New Girl” season 4 premiere as a sought-after man at the last wedding of the summer. This is the character who Jessica Biel and Zooey Deschanel’s characters will both be fighting over for attention. It’s a fun little guest-star role, and it won’t interfere with anything that Scott does on the HBO series.
“Kirstie” canceled – Well, this didn’t take long. After just a year on the air, TV Land has canceled the Kirstie Alley sitcom that featured an all-star cast. This was the big comeback for Michael Richards, but neither them nor Rhea Perlman could bring in the ratings needed to justify keeping the show around.
In the end, Alley may need to have a comeback to the other comeback that she had with “Dancing with the Stars.”
“Brooklyn Nine-Nine” gets a “Closer” – Specifically, they get the woman who is known for starring as “The Closer.” Kyra Sedgwick will grace the second episode of the comedy’s new season as Madeline Wuntch, a woman who is a former rival of Captain Holt (Andre Braugher). Unfortunately, this does not bode very well for him now. She is trying to go from one precinct to the next in order to figure out ways to take them down a few notches, and she could have a field day with this group.
The show will be returning to the air in late September, but will also be doing it on a brand-new night: Sundays.
