‘Once Upon a Time’ season 4 spoilers: ‘Lord of the Rings’ alum to troll around
Who knew that “Once Upon a Time” was practically looking to fill out the entire cast of “Frozen”? Even though we’re not going to have Olaf, we’re going to have both Prince Hans and Pabbie the rock troll!
While there is still no confirmation on who will be playing Hans, showrunner Adam Horowitz confirmed on Twitter Monday that John Rhys-Davies, who you probably know best for playing Gimli in the “Lord of the Rings” franchise, will be playing the part of Pabbie in at least one episode of the show.
The first thing that we have to say about this character is that we are almost hoping for a live-action version, if for no other reason than that seeing him appear in CGI form would be much too cheesy given the show’s budget. Whatever they have planned, we cannot see this being a role that sticks around for long. There is only so much story that you are going to get out of this sort of character; it’s not like casting Anna, Elsa, or any of the other prominent names from the “Frozen” universe.
The benefit of taking so much from this world is that you get fans of “Frozen” even more excited than they were previously; however, the clear disadvantage that we imagine there being here is just that you’re raising expectations to another level. IF for some reason this story does not turn out, you can only imagine the sort of complaining that will take place.
