‘Halt and Catch Fire’ season 2: Does Lee Pace know renewal prospects?
With the finale for “Halt and Catch Fire” come up on Sunday night, there is of course a question that many are asking right now: What are the odds of season 2? We certainly understand why everyone is pondering over this, as well: The show is great! It’s the sort of thing that you would want to see on the air for many years.
Speaking to TVLine, Lee Pace admitted that he is still “itching” to figure out what the future holds for him right now, and that includes the possibility of a second season for the show. The man has a number of different possibilities at his doorstep constantly, and one brought up here is of course the idea of him eventually appearing on “Hannibal.” We feel like if “Halt and Catch Fire” is not renewed, this is something that could very easily happen, given the number of characters in that world and the connection that is there between him and showrunner Bryan Fuller.
We feel like the decision for this show will come from AMC within a couple of weeks of the finale, and we’re optimistic. The network renewed “Turn,” which was on at a time when more people were watching TV, and we feel like its ratings were not even as good. “Halt and Catch Fire” has been a solid hit with the critics, and it also presents something that is completely different and original from what is going on with other networks and programs right now.
How badly do you want to see “Halt and Catch Fire” come back for a second season? Let us know in the comments.

love this show. sounds cliché, but the acting really is top-notch – especially lee pace. the others, playing Cameron (love her), Gordon, Donna, don’t slouch either. Halt’s story line and dialogue are intelligent, from the first episode to the season finale, it builds to a more twisty-turny, interesting and addictive series. it will be an emmy winner for amc, and suitable next gen for breaking bad and madmen followers. hope amc has the wisdom to renew it.

Different yes! AMC this would be a mistake if you don’t renew for a 2nd season. I really loved and certainly enjoyed the show.

If HACF isn’t renewed for a second season AMC will be making a tragic mistake.
It’s not perfect but it keeps building with characters that engage and intriguing plot twists. The nostalgia factor along with the tech is a great mix and much better than say a comedy like “Silicon Valley”.
Don’t recall seeing Lee Pace in anything before but he can be spellbinding. The other actors are great too IMO. There are some misses with some of the technical stuff but I can overlook that. Just fun revisiting that era.
Not sure how they can expand upon it with season 2 but I’d watch a lot more of it. Please AMC, don’t cancel this show. There’s too much crap on cable. This show isn’t crap.
Even “The Wire” took time to build an audience…

I was very excited to see this show on AMC. I’ve watched it every week! I’m now disappointed that there is a possibility the show won’t be renewed for a Season 2.
Though viewership was low for Mad Men, AMC kept MM on air due to its hit with the critics. I hope AMC does the same for HaCF. Thanks!

I love this show. It’s definitely the best show on right now and ranks up there with AMC’s finest. It will find an audience, they just need to give it time and let social media and word of mouth do the rest.

I agree with everyone else. I LOVE this show. I have 4 shows I watch every Sunday and I’m most excited every week about this one. It’s the first one I watch. I usually can’t wait. If AMC cancels this show they’re idiots. Period. It proves people are just interested in ratings for money and not content. The citrics love it.

I’m so sick of “ratings,” deciding every move the big industry makes. Ratings are flawed anyway, especially with a show like this, appealing so strongly to the computer savvy. I have been a Nielsen participant, and I can say for sure that they don’t look at internet viewings seriously at all. I personally, and many others presumably, watched this series via the internet somehow. Want to see true “ratings?” Concentrate more on making your show available on legit streaming services like Netflix. TV is dying medium. You can’t judge a show like this based on a format that people have waning interest in. Especially a show like this, where a good chunk of the audience has moved on to computers for their entertainment viewing. It’s a really good show, and I bet many of us would love to see more. I have waited my whole life for a show like this!

Yeah, in an age of streaming/downloads and Tivo, Nielson ratings are all but meaningless.
The problem with ratings for a show like this is that it was partially marketed toward the more tech-savvy… who are less likely to huddle around a talking box and suffer through commercials, when they can just see it on Netflix or Amazon. Yet Hollywood stubbornly clings to the relics like Nielson ratings.

The show is amazing its not cookie cutter episode nine opens doors for future seasons with story points that can be explored and continued AMC has always been about what matters the story it shouldn’t matter what the ratings say don’t be like other networks I have grown to love the people and time setting that takes place in the show so please don’t do what other networks have done in the past and rob us the fans of the story of Cameron Gordon Joe or Donna or any of the other people that live in the reality that is Halt and Catch fire please make your founding statement true I believe that the saying story matters here sets AMC apart from the rest please stand behind that

I think this show really bloomed in the last three or four episodes, although I liked it form the start. I hope they renew it and can envision all kinds of plot lines to sustain it. I ended up liking Breaking Bad so much that I honestly cannot remember my feelings the first season but I don’t think they were any stronger than my enjoyment of H&CF.

Love it. Loved mad men and breaking bad too but I think this is superior to the first season of breaking bad – big call I know!
Brilliant writing and acting. My one criticism is Kerry Bishe is a little too good looking for her role. I think she’d have been better off in the Cameron role with Mackenzie Davis not quite charismatic enough to hold her own with Lee Pace who’s outstanding.

Lee Pace can’t act. He lacks charisma and charm, he’s not good looking or cool. Why are people even comparing this subpar production to one of the best shows on tv. smh

This show is about history in the making, computers and the Internet have changed the world and this show is about the beginning of that revolution.
I think the biggest problem with this show is the title…it sucks!
Most other new shows are about end of the world stuff…oh so depressing but there’s a few good shows out there and this one is one of the good ones…we want more!.

This show is almost as good as Breaking Bad, and better than Mad Men. I don’t think most viewers even realize how great the writing and production of the show actually are. I lived that very time, and it is spot on down to the very last minute detail. The greatness of the acting goes without saying, and Lee Pace is absolutely mesmerizing in his finest role to date. If AMC cancels this show, then they are absolute imbeciles.

Toward the 1st season finale, finally Halt and Catch Fire is getting good and exciting. It would be a mistake if it is not renewed for 2nd season.

It’s a very good show but I think you should re-watch Breaking Bad, especially the character development early on, if you think this is almost as good. There’s a reason that show has the following that it does. That being said though, I am shocked to find out how few viewers Halt pulls in, it’s really one of the only watchable shows on TV, at least during this time of the year.

You must be a hired troll? Lee Pace can’t act and ruins this show. This is nowhere near BB or Mad Men.

All in for a second season here — there have been some imperfect moments yet each week I’ve looked forward to seeing it!

Canceling the show at this point would be further proof that AMC is no longer interested in producing quality TV, but just looking for the next “big” thing like other cookie cutter networks. They made their name with shows like Mad Men and Breaking Bad that needed, and deserved, a slow build. I hope they realize that this is what makes them special in today’s TV landscape. We can only wait and see.
