‘The Bridge’ season 2, episode 3 review: The case for more Eleanor

Bridge -On this week’s new episode of “The Bridge,” the show felt at least somewhat more like it did the first season. After all, this was the first time that Stephen showed up and played a particularly large role. The same thing goes for Charlotte.

But in the end, most of tonight’s episode was all about Eleanor. Franka Potente’s bizarre villain is captivating to watch, especially since she is such a wild card. Her motives are unclear, and her methods of figuring out who to kill and not kill are equally so.

It is with this in mind that we almost want to pitch for the show to simplify itself a little bit. We really are not that interested in some of the side stories or other characters. We haven’t even found the Daniel Frye journey to be that interesting so far, and we love that character and Matthew Lillard’s performance in the role. Some of this is the result of the search for Eleanor being so great, but the other part is a sign of the show’s present flaws.

As the episode ended, Sonya managed to find Kyle’s body, and this at least confirmed the end of one of Eleanor’s victims to them. However, you knew still that there was much more to come here, and we’ve only scratched the surface of this character. That alone is what is keeping us firmly hooked on the show. We feel like at the moment, everything else is white noise and filled with characters we know far less about. Grade: B-.
