MTV’s ‘Awkward’ season 4, ‘Faking It’ return dates announced

For those of you wanting to see more of “Awkward” season 4 and “Faking It” in the near future, we’ve got some great news coming in today from TCA: Official return dates!

Both shows are going to be back on Tuesday, September 23, and their timeslots are going to be exactly the same most of the time. The Ashley Rickards series will air starting at 10:00 p.m. Eastern time, and Katie Stevens and company will be coming up at 10:30.

MTV was trying for a while to come up with a great one-two punch for “Awkward,” which has secured a good audience for itself thanks to its quirky style and memorable characters. It may have found it and then some with “Faking It,” a show that combines hot-button issues with humor to produce something that is really quite different than anything else on TV. What these two shows mostly signify to us is that there is some quality scripting programming on the network these days other than “Teen Wolf,” and you really don’t even have to do that much digging in order to find it.

As for what the future holds for these series beyond the fall, there are more questions with that. We are confident that “Faking It” will last for at least a little while longer, mostly thanks to buzz and that there is some more story to mine from it. However, we feel like there are some more issues to discuss right now when it comes to “Awkawrd.” With the students on the show now seniors and with there already being some turnover among the cast, how long can it really last at this point? There are definitely some big decisions to come, but we’re hoping for at least a shorter season 5 if the end of the series is near and you’re not going to push into college.
