‘Under the Dome’ season 2: Watch David Letterman explain story of the show (video)

David Letterman is known for many things, but viral videos are not necessarily one of them. He’s more of a skilled interview, so when we saw that his “Under the Dome” recap he featured on “The Late Show” Wednesday night was starting to get attention across the internet, we were curious enough to give it a look.

So what did we end up seeing here as a result? Basically, it was a series of watching people say the word “Dome” over and over again, and a nice little mockery of how much the show utilizes this word. Also, we take this as yet another piece of evidence that Letterman is able to get away with a lot more than other late-night hosts because he’s been around forever, and because CBS doesn’t own all of his show outright. How else do you think he would get away with a video that is basically mocking how ridiculous this show really is?

The funny thing about this video to us is that this is probably what many people who don’t watch “Under the Dome” probably think that the show is: People running around and talking about the same thing time and time again. Maybe this is part of the show’s problem in that it’s gotten a little too weird and wacky for its own good. Something has certainly changed, given that the ratings for the show are significantly lower for season 2 so far than they were for its first go-around on the air at this point last year.
