‘Britain’s Got Talent’: Winners Collabro, runner-up Lucy Kay have longer tour together
It’s astounding just how big of a difference there is right now between the winners of talent competitions in Great Britain, and those who manage to come out on top in the United States. By and large, most UK acts at least have the opportunity to have some sort of career after the fact … and they also sell so many tour tickets that there is a need to actually announce more dates.
Here is the latest evidence of this when it comes to “Britain’s Got Talent” winners Collabro: They have actually added some more tour dates for their upcoming series of shows with Lucy Kay, who came in second place on the show. It will now start earlier on January 27 in Carlisle, and end later on March 9 in Southend. It does make a little sense that the group would sell well: Their operatic / musical theater performances. These are the sort of songs that are extremely popular live, and they have the sort of voices that recordings cannot do justice.
Here are the reasons why we find all of this ultimately to be so astounding:
- The “American Idol
- ” tour this summer has already canceled dates, and even at some of the venues already scheduled, the audiences are not entirely full. They’ve also cut out a good percentage of the touring band to save money.
- When you look at the total number of performances Collabro have had on the show, there’s only been three: The audition, and two live performances.
- These concerts are not even until next year, and it is very well possible that some will not remember the group as much as they do now.
So congratulations to Collabro, and now we’ll have to wait and see what happens next for “Britain’s Got Talent.” The show could potentially have new judges in the new year, but we are a long ways off from finding out about that.
