‘Masters of Sex’ season 2 spoilers: Masters and Johnson, present and future

The premiere of “Masters of Sex” season 2 on July 13 is really not that far away anymore, and that seems to serve as the perfect reason to now ask the question: What’s going to happen with the two main characters?

In the history books, this is obviously a pretty easy question to answer: Bill Masters and Virginia Johnson eventually get together, and we don’t feel like it’s a major spoilers when you can look it up on Wikipedia or anywhere else on the internet. The mystery with this show revolves more around the when, how, and the why of the situation than anything else.

According to TV Guide, the biggest scoop that we can reveal is that there will be some sort of hookup between the two following that declaration that Bill sent in her direction after the declaration that he sent her way during the season 1 finale. But where does the story go from there? That is a little more of the interesting question. By the end of the episode, the report teases that you are going to find out more in terms of what lies ahead for these characters, and that has us intrigued. They’ll make a choice and stick with it … at least for now.

Given that Libby is in the cast photos, we imagine that whatever the choice is will be one that doesn’t sever Bill’s marriage immediately; but, and much like the Masters / Johnson relationship as a whole, this has a limited shelf life. There is only so long that the characters can keep up the charade of being in a functioning marriage.
