‘Under the Dome’ season 2: Preview the preview special!

How about this for hype? “Under the Dome” not only has a preview special coming up on Monday night, but we actually have a preview for this said preview right now!

This video below doesn’t really give you a great sense of everything that will be discussed on the behind-the-scenes special, but it does at least promise some teasers on the next season, along with updates about the set, how there will be some new faces, and that Big Jim of course is someone not to be messed with.

As for why the network is working so hard in order to promote this new season, the answer is simple: Ratings. In between this show and “Big Brother,” CBS had a banner year last summer and started to really figure out the best way to run this. This year, they have both this show, the Halle Berry show “Extant,” and also the summer reality sensation to draw ratings from. We expect there to be some declines in the “Under the Dome” viewership (this almost always happens with second seasons), but the question we wonder about now is just how drastic these will be. By getting people excited about the season before the show even returns, the network is at least doing all they can to ensure that nobody forgets that the show is on. That happens all the time when it comes to these summer shows.
