MTV’s ‘Awkward’ season 4 spoilers: Is Eva shocker real? Boss explains

“Awkward” season 4 definitely started to spin in a very surprising direction during the midseason finale Tuesday night, and it was thanks by and large to one simple thing: A pregnancy test. Eva is seemingly expecting a child with Matty, and that changes more than just his future. It could also complicate whether or not Jenna wants to be with him and to continue being a part of this dramatic world.

So was this test really a positive one? This is something that show executive producer Mike Chessler had the following to say to TVLine when it comes this issue … but notice just how careful he was with the response:

“Yes, it was absolutely a positive pregnancy test. So when we come back in the fall, all of our characters will be dealing with the blowback.”

One of the biggest questions we still have here, though, is if Matty is the father, or if this was a pregnancy test belonging to someone else. Just because there is a positive pregnancy test doesn’t mean that Matty and Eva are the parents, after all; she has, however, got him in a very difficult position where it going to be very hard over the next several months to really prove anything otherwise. Matty could have to go through all of the same sort of painful things that many expecting teen parents face, whether that be telling the parents or trying to figure out how you are going to attend school or plan out your future while caring for a little one.
