‘Rizzoli & Isles’ season 5, episode 2 preview: The Lee Thompson Young tribue

Next week’s “Rizzoli & Isles” episode is going to be a really tough one to sit through from an emotional level. We’re talking about a character in Det. Barry Frost who was beloved on the show, and has to be killed off now following the tragic death of Lee Thompson Young.

There will be more that takes place beyond the tribute to Young, but it’s hard to really focus on much of that. You can see almost everything that you can expect in the synopsis below:

“A woman walks into the station covered in blood, carrying a gun, and saying she killed someone. Unfortunately, the trauma of what she did caused her to forget who she is or who the victim is. The team tries to unravel this bizarre case as they deal with the loss of close friend and colleague, Det. Barry Frost.”

Obviously, this will be an episode that you will need to bring your tissues for, but it will not be the only episode the rest of the season that deals with Frost. We were worried going into this season that the show would address the passing, and then decide to not really bring it up for the rest of the season while they take on other topics. That is in some ways the convenient way to handle things for people viewing the repeats out of order; however, actually talking about this and allowing the characters to heal over time is what is natural for them. We’ll have to see what plays out here the rest of the way.
