‘Mad Men’ season 7: Kiernan Shipka reflects on MMVA red carpet
The first thing that we have to say in this particular article is that when it comes to the MuchMusic Video Awards red carpet this year, we are certainly disappointed. What gives, MuchMusic? Outside of a few names, this show did not really bother at all to present many familiar faces from the world of TV.
Luckily, one of these people was “Mad Men” star Kiernan Shipka, who had one of the more unusual segments on the show that we’ve seen thanks to sheer awkwardness. First, she responded to a question about growing up on the set the past seven years by saying that “it’s crazy, it’s awesome. It’s so fun and it’s been a really great learning experience.” Then, she had to deal with constant gushing about her Instagram page, and then was handing a cupcake with her face on it. Seriously, how are you supposed to react to such a strange thing? Kiernan did the best that she could by saying she was “speechless,” and that feels like the right reaction.
What we hope to see from Kiernan’s Sally Draper in the final seven episodes of “Mad Men” is a continued role as the voice of reason for Don. In a way, she is the closest family that he has, and she understands him in a way that is much beyond her years. She is a real mystery of a character, as well, given how she seems completely one way around Don and different around Betty … who, like Jon Hamm’s character, really needs to get her stuff together by the end of the show’s run if she wants anything close to a ride off into the sunset.
