‘The Bachelorette’ review: Ron Worrell leaves (why?); Andi Dorfman – Josh Murray moment
Sunday night was a special episode of “The Bachelorette” on ABC, and one that contained a full gamut of emotions. We had one of the most hysterical moments in the history of the entire franchise, but also a small collection of some of the funniest moments to go along with it.
Let’s obviously start here with that ridiculous / awful group date with Boyz II Men, given that there was nothing that was really that interesting about what happened on that one-on-one date with Andi Dorfman and Nick Viall. This date, complete with singing, was hysterical. You had Bradley acting like he was the king just because he could sing, and then you had Marquel totally going for it and reminding us yet again why he is one of the most amazing people alive.
In the end, though, it was Josh Murray who got the rose for the date after some romantic moments that he shared with her. It was funny because she claimed in her speech that they had some sort of deep connection there, but really it felt like all they did was just sit there and kiss each other. We suppose that is at least reasonably romantic for some people … just not on this show with the logic that was presented.
The other one-on-one date with Andi was slightly better, mostly because of the comedy that was associated with it. It was basically “Betty White’s Off Their Rockers,” except you didn’t have to sit through thirty minutes of it.
Now, we have to turn to the sad stuff. There was the beginnings of some hard times for Eric Hill and some of the other guys, and Ron Worrell ended up leaving the competition after getting some tough news from home that a close friend of his died. Also, drama came via Andrew, and a confrontation that was extremely interesting in how he tries to stay away from the cameras the moment that the notion of him getting a girl’s number was brought up.
There were no real shockers in the elimination. Andrew stayed (good for drama), and we also ended up losing singer Bradley and hairstylist / invisible man Brett. The dates made up for the rest of the episode this week, at least because this was reasonably creative for this show’s standards. Grade: B-.
