‘Silicon Valley’ episode 8 (finale) spoilers: What to look out for in ‘Tip-to-Tip Efficiency’
Tonight, HBO will be closing the door on one of our personal favorite comedies of the year so far in “Silicon Valley,” and the thought of that is certainly sad. At least if nothing else there’s the chance to have the show (which is already renewed) go out with something great.
Let’s start with the facts, which you may or may not have seen already. The episode is entitled “Tip-to-Tip Efficiency,” and the official HBO synopsis is below:
“Poised to compete at TechCrunch Disrupt, the guys of Pied Piper become worried after an impressive presentation by Gavin Belson (Matt Ross). As Jared (Zach Woods) tries to pivot the company, Richard (Thomas Middleditch) is inspired to make big changes at the last minute.”
What we would personally expect is some sort of suggestion about where Pied Piper is going to be heading on the second season of the show, and if they are completely swallowed alive by the folks over at Hooli. Executive producer Mike Judge knew most likely that these eight episodes were not meant to be the end of the series, and this was meant to be more of a building block with at least enough of a button to have fans excited about next season.
What is a little more ambiguous is whether or not the show will choose to write out Christopher Evan Welch in this final episode. It feels like you ultimately have to kill Peter Gregory off, since there is no other way to justify the late actor no longer being a part of the show. But given how sudden his passing was, this may be something that the show waits until season 2 to properly address.
