‘Masters of Sex’ season 2 spoilers: What’s next for Bill Masters, Virginia Johnson?

At the end of “Masters of Sex” season 1, Showtime at least attempted to make it seem like there was a certain amount of ambiguity in regards to whether or not Bill Masters and Virginia Johnson were going to have a future together. However, much of this same ambiguity is gone upon looking at the first real trailer for the risque Showtime drama.

In this trailer (which you can see over at BuzzFeed), Dr. Masters and Virginia clearly decide that they want to continue the “study” … but not so much in the confines of a lab. Rather, the two of them take it home, and to hotel rooms using anonymous names. It has become more of a full-blown affair, which makes us continue to feel awful for poor Libby, who is having to sit by and wonder why all of this is happening.

Eventually, we assume that there will be a tipping point, and those who are trying to view this show through the lens of the actual events are going to know where this story eventually goes to a certain extent.

What we are equally interested in right now is just what the future of Masters’ sex study is going to be, especially since that is not mentioned at all in the trailer. We know that he certainly wants to continue to pursue it, but there are some significant hurdles to overcome. For one, he has to find an institution that actually wants to support something that the previous one described as filth.
