‘Rizzoli & Isles’ season 5: When Lee Thompson Young’s death will be written in
This article is obviously not one of the more pleasant ones we have composed when it comes to a TV show, mostly because the subject matter simply cannot be pleasant. The death of Lee Thompson Young rocked the world last year, and it certainly rocked the cast and crew of “Rizzoli & Isles.”
For the writers, the challenge has been trying to find a way to write in the death of Young’s Frost in a way that feels appropriate, and pays tribute to the actor. This is not a situation where you can just send the character away, given that then leads to questions about whether or not that person would do that to the rest of their team.
According to TV Guide, Jane and Maura are actually not going to find out about the character’s death until the end of the June 17 premiere, and the character is going to be written out via a car accident. After this, the next episode will be spent planning the memorial for the character, and there will probably be tears falling at a pretty steady rate.
In the end, this feels like the right way to bring about the story in that you are giving it a little time to build, and thanks to this, the story will have an additional meaning that it may not have had otherwise. We certainly expect this to be powerful, and even though there will be more cases that come the rest of the season, we have a very difficult time imagining that Frost will be completely forgotten.
If you are a major “Rizzoli & Isles” fan, stay tuned for some further updates moving forward towards the show’s return.
