ABC’s ‘Scandal’ season 4: A few notes to tide you over

How long is it until “Scandal” season 4 premieres? Right now, we assume that this is the “are we there yet?” question for TV fans that will be asked for almost any show.

But in reality, it’s a pretty foregone conclusion when the show is going to come back, which is why we’re not going to spend all summer writing articles about when the premiere date is just to get that shoved in the title. Unless ABC pulls something crazy, the show should return in either late September or early October, if they decide to do a two-hour “Grey’s Anatomy” premiere again and hold off on this show for another week.

What may be more useful information right now is that Shonda Rhimes and the team are already writing and discussing story ideas for the new season, even though it is still four months away. Why so early? The simplest answer to that is just that there is a definite need to get a jump on filming in a couple of months, and make sure that things are planned out as far into the future as they can be. The more that you can plan out a show, the higher the odds that it will emerge even more awesome in the end.

Obviously, there are a number of cliffhangers, but the few things that are confirmed include the exit of Columbus Short, the reality of Olivia taking off and getting away from the madness, and also that Rowan is not in a very good place … at all. We’ll have to see where the story takes us.
