‘The Vampire Diaries’ season 6: Show director on key Ian Somerhalder moment
At the moment, you may know that Ian Somerhalder and Kat Graham are going to return in some capacity for “The Vampire Diaries” season 6, but there is still another valuable question to ask: Just what capacity is that going to be?
The status of the Damon and Bonnie characters stems from the end of season 5, where we saw that light envelop the two characters and they wondered just where they were heading. Fans immediately revolting thinking that their beloved characters were going away, but have hopefully since learned that this is not the case at all.
When it comes to getting more scoop about what lies ahead on this show, you’re going to have a hard time getting more information! However, we can at least tell you a thing or two about what it was like for the directors at the show to set this scene up. Speaking to Entertainment Weekly Radio, Chris Grismer had the following to say about how the “other side” transition was created on a technical level:
“We just sort of over-exposed it, just old-school, and used smoke, and then I just had them grab the cameras and shake them … The weird thing about it was the actors couldn’t hear each other because we had fans going and it was just pure chaos. So they kinda had to guess when it was their turn to talk, and then we dubbed their voices afterward.”
Even if this was a simple approach to making this pivotal scene happen, there is still little doubt that it was emotional and beautiful to watch. Alongside the death of Alaric, we would say that this is one of the most-effective finale shockers ever.
