ABC’s ‘Revenge’ season 4 spoilers: Are the writers already back at work?
When it comes to “Revenge,” there really is very little rest for the wicked. Filming on the fourth season will kick off in a couple of months, but we have it on good authority now that new scripts are being written.
So where is the confirmation for this coming from? It’s none other than the show’s own executive producer himself! Speaking to Entertainment Weekly Radio, it was confirmed via Sunil Nayar that the writers were back at work earlier this week to start coming up ideas for what is going to come up next. The show ended with an enormous cliffhanger in the death of Aiden and the surprising revival of David Clarke … who was alive, but not the man that so many thought.
Nayar also suggested that this moment was cultivated as a way to shake up the foundation of the entire series, and give new stakes to the Emily Thorne character:
“We loved the first three seasons, but we needed a major change … We really wanted to dig deeper into the emotion of what her family means to [Emily].”
In addition to all of this, Nayar claimed that the main goal for season 3 was to get to the point where Victoria learned the secret of Emily, but they also wanted to create a feeling where Emily could win “the battle,” but not necessarily the war. With Victoria committed now, one of the goals is to create something for season 4 that fans of the first three will love, but also potentially new viewers who do not have to understand all of the mythology.
