‘True Detective’ season 2 spoilers: Three leads to be cast soon
For the upcoming second season of “True Detective,” it appears as though the show is not going to be taking the same measures at all to equal the tone and feeling of the first one. Rather than just giving you the same show or the same setting, you better prepare for something that will feel very new and different.
Speaking to Public Radio International’s “To the Best of Our Knowledge,” the genius otherwise known as Nic Pizzolatto said that the show is going to begin casting three leads for the new season rather than two, a fundamental shift from the first season with Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson. There are no descriptions out there of these characters yet, but it is certainly believable that one of them is a woman following the Jessica Chastain rumor that run amok last week.
This new season will be set in California, but not the Los Angeles region of the state. Outside of this, though, many details are still to be revealed … including when the series could actually air again. Given that filming would not be starting for at least a little while longer, it may be too much to ask a high-quality HBO series to be ready again for another season in January, especially since Pizzolatto himself puts so much of himself into almost every aspect of it.
The only thing that we would ask for in a second season is an entirely different cast. While we enjoy and appreciate having the likes of McConaughey and Woody Harrelson around, including them year-to-year would become a little distracting.
