‘Under the Dome’ season 2 spoilers: A multitude of deaths coming

We are around a month away now from the return of “Under the Dome” to CBS, and still we find ourselves dealing with anxiety over what could lie ahead. We want this show to be amazing, and around halfway through last season it ventured off-course and bought itself a ticket to Crazytown. Will it have stabilized by the time it comes on the air again? We hope so.

For now, what we can at least tell you is that the show is not planning to slow things down at all when it comes to some of the latest shockers. There will not only be one major death early on in the season, but there will be one that follows that up shortly afterwards. E! News confirms that there are going to be in total three significant deaths by the end of the season, with the last one coming a little later on. The only hint that is offered up about who could be meeting the Grim Reaper is that it could be one of the show’s younger stars who suffers.

Death is a good tool to stir things up and have people talking, but perhaps even more so than this what the show really needs to focus on is finding a way to build the mythology in a way that grounds the characters, and allows you to ignore some of the cheesier parts of the story. For example, we care about “Arrow” and suspend belief because the characters are solid; in reality, the idea of a guy killing people with arrows in the modern-day world rather than guns is just as out there as a town covered by a dome. It’s just that we view the two differently.
